The Ultimate Book Tag

I saw this tag and wanted to participate in it. I wasn’t tagged by anyone, just wanted to complete it. Let me know if you have any other answers different from mine below!

  1. Do you get sick while reading in the car?
No, as long as I keep the window out of my line of sight while reading I’m golden.
  2. Which authors writing style is completely unique to you and why?
Ellen Hopkins, she was the first author I read who wrote in verse.91rRqVJUASL
  3. Harry Potter series or the Twilight saga? Give three points to defend yourself.
Harry Potter series: 1) longer series 2) bigger franchise 3) better writing/acting
  4. Do you carry a book bag? If so what’s in it(besides books)?
No, honestly I don’t know what A book bag is, I either carry it or throw it into my black bag I take with me everywhere, or if I’m at school I just chuck it into my backpack that has pins all over it.
  5. Do you smell books?
Are you really a reader if you haven’t smelt a book that you just bought?
  6. Books with or without little illustrations?
They would be appreciated when it’s a high fantasy novel.
  7. What book did you loved while reading and discovered later it wasn’t quality writing?
Ironic considering the earlier question, Twilight.twilight-book-cover

Defenestration – The act of throwing someone or something out of a window

  16. Vampires or fairies? Why?
Fairies obviously…. I mean have you read any Cassandra Clare books?
  17. Shapeshifter or angels? Why?
Shapeshifter… I’ve always wondered if they’ve ever had “shifting horror stories” like they accidentally shifted in the middle of a wedding or a birthday part and went ham on the cake.
  18. Full on romance books or action-packed with a few love scenes mixed in?
Action-packed with a few love scenes mixed in, I love action packed/political stories but you have to have a few love scenes mixed in to keep things steamy and tension filled.

Rapid Fire Book Tag

After browsing through some tags people recently posted, I came across this amazing blog Reads, Rhythms and Ruminations where they posted a tag called “Rapid Fire Book Tag”. No, I wasn’t tagged in it but it was just such a cool tag that I couldn’t help myself.

  • Ebooks or physical?
I like physical books better, sue me for killing the environment but they don’t make books mad out of recycled paper for some reason.
  • Paperback or hardcover?
Hardcover, they just look better on a shelf if I’m being honest.
  • Online or in store?
I like the fact that you can read the book as soon as you buy it when you buy in store, but online is cheaper so I’m going to have to say online.
  • Trilogy or series?
If it’s a contemporary or a pretty light read then a trilogy but most of the time I like series.
  • Hero’s or villains?
We always get to hear from the hero’s point of view, I always like to get to hear from the villain as well.
  • A book you want everyone to read?
The Hate U Give by Angie ThomasThe Hate You Give
  • Recommend an underrated book
Mr.Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan(BTW the books on the cover glow in the dark)811wT2-uD8L
  • Last book you finished
Vengeance Road by Erin BowmanVegeance Road Cover
  • Weirdest thing you used as a bookmark?
Funny story, one time I used my phone as a bookmark and freaked out for the next two hours thinking I lost my phone looking for it after I stopped reading, then when I finally gave up and went back to reading I found it…. no shame.
  • Used books, yes or no?
Ummmmmm yes! as ong as they aren’t super beat up I’ll take them, they are also usually half-priced too.
  •  Borrow or buy?
Buy, If something happens to it I’d rather it be on my book, also I like the way they look on my shelf soooooooooooo.
  • Characters or plot?
Plot, can’t make characters without a plot to put them into.
  • long or short book?
Long books when it comes to fantasy but short books for pretty much anything else.
  • long or short chapters?
Short chapters, but only because I like having more places to stop in a book in case I need to go do something, selfish I know.
  • name the first three books that come to mind
Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare, Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake, and Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
  • Books that made you laugh or cry
Laugh: shadowhunter series Cry: This is Where it Ends by Marieke Nijkamp
  • Our world or fictional characters?
Fictional characters….. as long as it’s not the ones coming to destroy earth.
  • Audiobooks: yes or no?
I’ve never lisitened to one, shame on me, just never had the time because I prefer music when it comes to most things.
  • Do you ever judge a book by its cover?
    All the time.
  • Book to movie adaptation or movie to book adaptation?
Book to movie adaptation……. but the movie to book adaptations always get less slack because the book is usually word for word the movie and it’s always harder for a movie to capture everything in a book.
  • series or stand alone?
Series for sure, either that or I need some really long books.

Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag 2017

I saw a lot of booktubers doing this tag so I decided to join in. I’ve never done a tag before on this blog so let me know if I should post more! I left links to all the books mentioned in case any of you guys are interested in these books. This tag was created by Chami from ReadLikeWildfire and Ely from Earl Grey Books , it is basically to take a look at the past 6 months of reading and talk about what we look forward to in the next 6 months. I hope you enjoy and feel free to answer any of these questions down below for yourself or to just leave a comment!

  1. The best book so far of 2017
Lord of Shadows By Cassandra Clare &The Hate U Give By Angie Thomas Were my favorite so far, I couldn’t just pick one because LoS was one of my most anticipated reads this year so it felt unfair to have that be my only answer.
  2. Your favorite sequel  of the year
Lord of Shadows By Cassandra Clare again… like I said earlier, this was my MOST anticipated read of this year, it is such a good series and I highly suggest starting it if you haven’t. All these books are weaved together so perfectly it is a masterpiece.LOS_cover
  3. A new release that you haven’t read yet but want to
Our Dark Duet By Victoria Schwab I haven’t even read the first book yet but it is on my list of books to read before the end of the year so Im super excited to read it.OurDarkDuet
  4. Your most anticipated release for the second half of the year
Tower of Dawn By Sarah J. Maas is my next anticipated read. I haven’t read Empire of Storms yet but I plan on getting to it in the next month or so. If I’m going to be honest, I haven’t picked it up yet because I wanted it in paperback to match the rest of the series that I have.Tower of Dawn
  5. Your biggest disappointment
Caraval By Stephanie Garber I managed to get ahold of an ARC earlier this year a month before it came out and I was so excited to be reading it early. But as it was sold to me as a dark circus themed book I was let down with the actual story. The World building was honestly a little sad and so was the character development. And by the end of the book I was annoyed because there was no reason for it to have a sequel like the ending left off.Caraval
  6. Your biggest surprise of the year
The Wrath & the Dawn By Renée Ahdieh I picked up this book off Bookoutlet on a whim not really knowing what it was about. Let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed after reading it.The Wrath
  7. Favorite new to you or debut author
The Crowns Game By Evelyn Skye I love reading books set in Russia so this was an instant pick up for me after visiting my local half-priced bookstore, I’m excited to continue on with the next installment soon. The Crowns game
  8. New fictional crush
I don’t have anybody new so far this year sadly, but I do have a new OTP which is Greta and Elián from The Scorpion Rules By Erin Bow. They are both so intelligent and again, I love books about government that aren’t like the normal dystopian(so mostly politics?).The Scorpion Rules
  9. New favorite character
Evie from The Diviners By Libba Bray , Overall it was a good read but A little on the slow side.thediviners
  10. A book that made you cry
A Court of Wings and Ruin By Sarah J. Maas  I did have one or two major issues with the book but THE END SCENE THOUGH!!!!A court of wings and ruin
  11. A book that made you happy
One + One = Blue By MJ Auch Short but such a sweet read.One-Plus-One-Equals-Blue-MJ-Auch
  12. Your favorite book to movie adaptation of this year
There weren’t many book to movie adaptations this year, the only one I can really think of is Me Before You By Jojo Moyes Me before you
  13. Your favorite review that you have written this year
I just started my blog so I don’t have many to choose from, But I would say that my favorite to write was Cinder By Marissa Meyer , it was so easy to talk about and because it was my second time reading it I was able to word my thoughts in a little more of an order or category. Cinder_Cover (1)
  14. The most beautiful book that you have bought or received this year
In January I made a huge bookoutlet purchase of about 24 books and Everybody Sees the Ants By A.S. King still remains the prettiest purchase halfway through this year.Everybody sees the ants
  15. What are some of the books that you need to read by the end of this year
Three Dark Crowns By Kendare BlakeIn the Afterlight By Alexandra BrackenWinter By Marissa MeyerBluets By Maggie Nelson

New Shatter Me Books?

IMG_9482So Entertainment Weekly has just released an article in which they interview Tahereh Mafi about three new books in the Shatter Me series. Words can’t express how excited I am for this. Tahereh Mafi has three new books planned to come out-the first of which being Restore Me- after the long six years it has been since the last book Ignite Me was released. The expected release date is March 6th, 2018 and you bet I’m pre-ordering it!

We are told that it will be from duel POV’s (Warner and Juliette) for which I am super pumped for after reading the bind-up of all the novellas. Getting to read from Warners perspective is super exciting, hopefully it will offset Juliette’s somewhat indecisive manner (having flashbacks to The Selection series) that I discovered halfway through the series. Throughout the second book I would get so annoyed at how much it seemed like she just didn’t want to make a decision. It made me just want to throw the book across the room(almost did a couple times).

We were also told that we will be getting more from Kenji and see a new side of him. I’m happy about this because he’s my favorite character from the series. He’s just so funny and knows how to lighten the mood in a bad situation. But I’m also hoping that this will make him more of a main character, he just seemed to be back-seated a lot of the times when it came to any actual plot development for me.

Again, I’m SO SO SO SO SO EXCITED about getting THREE new books in the Shatter Me series. But it’s been six years since the last book was published and I’m a little worried that maybe because of this time Tahereh Mafi has spent away from writing this series it become a little disconnected from the first three books and they won’t be the same. And I’m aware that I shouldn’t have any expectations for this new development but you can’t blame a girl for being worried, it’s such a great series and I would be so sad if the second half of it didn’t live up to its first.
